A house looks much better when it is well decorated, but also when it looks neat and clean. Above all, having clean floors is one of the aspects of the house that guests tend to notice the most. For this reason, because sometimes between pets and children the floors get dirty much sooner, we give you some infallible tips so that they look radiant throughout the house.
Keeping the floor clean is one of the priorities in any house. It is one of the most visible areas when we enter our apartment or someone else's. The most common thing is that dust accumulates on everything. Even if you have light-colored floors, it is more likely that dirt will be seen much earlier. For this reason, it is appropriate that you pass the mop, the robot vacuum cleaner or the brush at least once a day. In this way, dirt will not accumulate for so long.
How to clean very dirty floors according to the material
Wood or parquet: wood is one of the easiest materials to clean. You can sweep, vacuum... Simply removing excess dirt would be more than enough. It is a fairly resistant material, although it is true that when scrubbing the floor we must incorporate specific products for wood. Depending on the type of stain that appears on the wooden floor, we must act in one way or another:
- When they are water stains, simply scrubbing the floor with the product that we use daily for wood is more than enough. Of course, we must dry the stain as soon as possible so that it does not remain impregnated in the wood.
- When an alcohol stain occurs, white spots usually appear. To remove this type of stain, the ideal is to apply wood wax, fortifying the surface well.
- When it comes to a grease stain, the important thing is to remove it as soon as possible. Although it is true that grease stains are more complicated to remove. A perfect remedy is to mix warm water with vinegar and rub well on the surface.
Tiles: to clean tiles it is important that you always use soaps with a neutral pH. Before scrubbing the floor, it is true that you must remove any type of dirt with the brush or the vacuum cleaner. Once you have it clean, it is time to add the mixture of soapy water. On a day-to-day basis, simply on these floors it would be enough to pass a mop as it does not damage this type of floor. And the joints of the tiles? Scrub the joints with a brush to remove any type of dirt. Then rinse with plenty of water, and voila!
Stone: natural stone floors are very easy to clean. In fact, maintenance is not very different from other floors. Simply sweeping and mopping with soap and water would be more than enough. In the event that the stone floors are outside, it is true that the care we must give to this type of floor must be greater. We must choose a soap that has a much higher pH. Also depending on the type of stone we must do one care or another. Ask the place where you bought the floor and get good advice on the care it needs.
Marble: marble is very fragile and you have to constantly clean it well if you want it to last longer. You must be very careful with the products that we use since marble is quite sensitive and you can damage it right away. Ideally, you should first use a vacuum cleaner to remove excess dirt, (without sweeping to avoid scratching the floor), and then simply pass the mop with soap and water.
Natural remedies to clean floors
When cleaning floors, you can not only apply conventional remedies. There are other types of effective natural methods to get rid of dirt depending on the type of floor you have. One of the most effective and natural remedies is the use of baking soda mixed with water. Eliminates bad odors and also embedded dirt if we also add lemon. In addition, it does not deteriorate the floors and protects them against bacteria and external agents. With bicarbonate also, if you add it to your usual mix for the floors you will get a much greater shine in all the rooms where you have tiles, especially.
